Only talking base game Visionary.

Mind controlling a Voss ship has been the only real stand out use we've found for her. She's just too open to damaging herself and she can't soak it up.

As far as manipulating villain and environment decks, Wraith can do it nearly as well (I'd call outright destroying environment cards the ultimate deck control) while being MUCH better in other departments. I'll take 3 damage to 3 targets over Visionary's marginally better deck manipulation any day.

I've personally never played Parse, but I've heard a bunch of people saying they would never take Visionary when they could take Parse. Ditto for Dark Visionary.

Think about Wrest the Mind a little more. Yes you take that three damage, but you would take it anyway from the ship as well. You are preventing damage to other heros, adding that damage to other places, killing the ship a lot faster than you normally would, and still are only taking minimal overall damage as a team compared to what you would have taken otherwise.

Using it on a full health EMP (omnitron) could kill the EMP before Wrest ever deals you damage. Any low health target that deals a lot of damage will work this way too. Citizen Hammer for instance. You'll kill it before it does any damage to the team and before Wrest deals you damage. There are tons of great ways to use Wrest besides for the big "oh Shait" moments.

Stuff like Wrest the Mind, Twist the Ether, Decoy Projection, and more give Visionary damage mitigation tools that someone like Parse has no access too at all. To say that you wouldn't take Visionary over Parse because they both do villain deck manipulation and Parse just does more damage is to miss the awesome and unique things Visionary does bring to the table. The same thing goes for Wraith.

If you think the only thing Visionary is good for is villain deck manipulation, then I think you are overlooking her a great deal
