Don't know if this is even in the timeline, but the cards for Megalopolis imply the following scenario. Hopefully you enjoy this like the last one!The city of Megalopolis. Still recovering from Baron Blades attempt to bring the moon down upon the city, life has moved on and things are getting back to normal. The city is bustling once again and all is peaceful down at the Megalopolis zoo. Wandering around is a man not from this country originally, but he holds a secret that many are about to discover.
Lurking in the shadows, a silent assassin has his sights set on the man and prepares to open fire. Bang! The man goes down seeming lifeless as hundreds of people run and scream in panic. Hearing their cries, Legacy, the first of the Freedom Four arrives on the scene. He is caught off guard, as his attention is on the foe clad in blue with a gun behind his back and his face masked, by an automated turret that has been set up in advance.
"Who are you," Legacy exclaims.
"The last name you will ever hear...Ambuscade."
Taking out his custom handgun, Ambuscade fires at Legacy and disappears due to the activation of a cloaking device. Moving silently, he plants a sonic grenade on a nearby wall to cover his tracks.
Fortunately, the other three members, Tachyon, Bunker, and the Wraith; arrive to help their friend and fellow hero. Legacy looks to his ring Legacy ring and remembers the inscription written, "Furthering Your Father's Legacy." He galvanizes himself and the rest of his group to hit with all their might! Tachyon follow suit by donning her hud goggles and pushing to the limits with her superspeed. Seeing Ambuscade distracted, Bunker unleashes his grenade launcher to damage Ambuscades reactive plating, auto turret and custom handgun. Breaking out her razor ordinance, the Wraith takes careful aim where the grenade launcher hit and damages the reactive plating further.
Preparing to strike back, Ambuscade is stunned as the figure he thought dead gets up before him.
"You're supposed to be dead!"
The figure strikes back with a Mere that has a caught bullet embedded.
"Next time you try to take out Haka, you better check your aim."
Having recovered from the hit, Ambuscade takes a hostage nearby and makes his way to the rooftop of the zoo's gorilla exhibit. With a free hand he uses a stim pack and sets up an unavoidable explosive for the approaching heroes. With his cloaking device shorting out in bursts, he surprises Wraith and shoots Tachyon with his custom gun as the turret takes aim at Haka again.
Not wanting to put the hostage in any more danger, Legacy galvanizes himself again as Tachyon feels the after affects of pushing to the limits. Taking careful aim, Bunker unleashes another barrage of grenades that destroys Ambuscade's reactive plating and hits the turret which knocks away the custom gun. Wraith follows Bunker's lead and takes out the automated turret with her razor ordinance as Haka hits the cloaking device on Ambuscade to cause it to sputter and release the hostage.
Seizing the opportunity, the heroes engage in rooftop combat. Ambuscade obviously had this plan as he activates a trap that is rigged to detonate should the heroes get too close and punches the Wraith who attempts to flank him. Unfortunately, he does not plan for what the heroes have in store. Legacy galvanizes once again and uses a motivational charge to damage the cloaking device further and allow the other four to gather themselves. Tachyon again feels the effects of pushing to the limits, but presses on with a synaptic reaction. She nimbly strikes the cloaking device twice and causes it to overload and reveal Ambuscade's whereabouts. Taking aim, Bunker sets up his omnicannon with three shots and unleashes his grenade launcher as Ambuscade dodges. A sonic grenade is hit by the debris causing all the heroes to fall to their knees. Wraith thinks fast as she programs a targeting computer and Haka puts a Taiaha together.
Having been caught in the sonic blast, the hostage is once again taken by Ambuscade as rooftop combat continues. After using a quick stimpack to gather himself, Ambuscade does a snatch and grab to severely injure Legacy. Not wishing to fail, Legacy hits Ambuscade with a hard Twakk! He galvanizes himself and hits with a motivated charge on Ambuscade as the others again compose themselves. Feeling the effects of pushing to the limits once more, Tachyon uses blinding speed to free the hostage from Ambuscade's grasp and hits the villain with a hypersonic assault, dazing him. She finishes with a lightspeed barrage that sets up another ammo shot for the omnicannon and fires*! Wraith brings out her utility belt to gather more ammo for her razor ordinance and hits Ambuscade before setting up a small barrier for herself. Haka seeing an opening hits with his Taiaha, sending Ambuscade reeling off of the rooftop!
Unfortunately for the heroes, the tracks where the train nearly plummeted before were still unstable and located near the zoo itself. With all the panic and damaged structure still needing to be fixed, the tracks were in danger of falling down. Still dazed, Ambuscade attempts to run and gun, but is unable, yet manages to pick up his custom gun, take aim at Wraith and miss by a mile.
Legacy hits the gun with a flying punch and Ambuscade as well, galvanizes himself and uses a motivational charge to hit Ambuscade, cracking his helmet and giving the others time to join them below on the ground. Tachyon feels the effects of pushing to the limits one last time as she uses blinding speed to solder the tracks together and finishes off Ambuscade with a sonic vortex.
Down for the count, Ambuscade lays unconscious as the heroes await for the police to arrive. Having found another hero in their midst, they welcome him to help defend justice anytime. Parting ways, they begin to wonder how Ambuscade knew about Haka and who, if anyone, did he work for? Stay tuned for more adventures with the Freedom Four!
*When I used the omnicannon, I had 4 cards with galvanize and rooftop combat active. I assume that the effect was 8 + 2 = and not 12 as this makes more sense. If it was 12, he got off by only 2 points anyway.
