You take all of the hero cards not being used in the current game and shuffle them together to form the Sidekick deck. You reveal a new one each Sidekick turn, so that the powers available to be used change from turn to turn.

I've played at least six games using this method, and have yet to lose. The games are usually fairly close, but the heroes seem to win with about 5-10 HP left.
Instead of allowing each active hero to get a sidekick benefit each round, I'm considering only allowing a total of one sidekick benefit each round.
