I just Kickstarted Tiny Epic Galaxies (after the_yoshi told me about it) and plan to eventually grab Tiny Epic Defenders as an add-on (since it's out of stock everywhere right now).

I'm probably more excited about TED and it seems ripe for retheming (classic StarCraft AoS?); I decided to shove some existing artwork into the PnP cards (several rethemes already exist in the BGG gallery so I don't feel too bad about posting these).

Not sure if all the cards are representative of the final TED since the PnP is pretty out-of-date. Not sure if I'll actually do anything with this at all. If anyone else is interested in the images I might post them.

If you can make that fit, go for it.

I think that's a great change.

Honestly, both advanced mode rules started as placeholders that just ossified.

Just a shot in the dark. I think about a mechanic:

The ongoings could have a Haku effect and a Flutter effect. Haku's power: Activate one Haku effect, then deal a target 1 melee damage. Flutter's power: Reduce in 1 the next damage to a hero target, then activate a Flutter effect.

This way, the ongoings could do different things based on the character who uses then and you have to choose what is more usefull at the moment.

For example, Protective Spirit.

Reduce damage deal to Haku or Flutter by 1.

Haku effect: Until the start of the turn the first time a hero character takes damage from a target, Haku deals that target 2 melee damage.

Flutter effect: Until the start of your next turn redirect all damage from the lowest hp hero to another hero target.

Maybe the powers should be more powerful to compensate when there is no effect in play.

Another kind of amazing moments is a story that keeps repeating to me all the time:

Me and some of my friends decided to play Sentinels and are currently choosing heroes. Them, being less experianced than me, try to take the most powerful or useful ones, while I just fill in whatever role we're lacking. There's always at least one person who looks at a hero and is all like "This hero is weak and useless, I don't know why they even put him/her in the game". So I take that hero.

Guess who becomes the MVP during that game? Every. Single. Time.

I hear them all say things like:

-"Argent Adept is convoluted and confusing" - I set up a board full of buffs and use them to give players milion free powers/cards.

-"Nightmist is killing herself faster than killing enemies and can't do anything" - I manage to stay highest HP almost all the time and keep the environment and ongoings in check.

-"Sentinels are weak and die too fast" - I'm the last player standingg with all my heroes alive and finish the game by myself (with help from incapped friends).

-"Visionary can't do anything!" - And so villain almost never gets a card that hurts us too much.

-"Fixer is not dealing enough damage!" - I destroy all Voss's minions in a single turn with proper tool and style.

-"Expat can't get any weapons!" - I spend a few turns taking 2 cards, then end up armed and shooting everything that exists and RPG'ing the T-Rex or Self-Destruct Mechanism.

The list goes on.

It's not who you play, but how ;)

Hi Matthew, the artwork looks awesome!

When I click on the link you sent, and then click on Printer's Studio Set 1, will that be an entire 234 card set with the artwork? Or do I have to make some changes?

Thanks,

Jared

The gem destroying trick sounds great, only take care to dont do it too similar to Cauldron's Starlight.

Thread: Sentinels of the Multiverse:: General:: Comparison to Last Starfleet?

Hi,

So I was thinking about backing Last Starfleet on Kickstarter. Which led me to this game as some people on there was drawing very strong comparisons to how this game plays.

Now I am in a pickle trying to decide which game is best for me. Since I have not played Sentinels I have been trying to read rules and reviews to draw comparisons.

What are people's thoughts on the differences between the game? And what each might be doing better?

From the first look at it, it sounds a lot like Sentinels, with everything being a deck which you can mix and match. Definitely sounds like another GtG game, Galactic Strike Force (which, for the most part, was not all that well recieved). I'll keep an eye out for it, it sounds like a game I would enjoy.

...however, this:

Content is family friendly!
Cooperative gameplay makes a really positive teaming experience!
Constantly engaging, so you won't just wait for your turn!
Ships and planets are unique, which makes it highly replayable!
Easy to pick up, but the strategies you build are complex!
Build the game YOU want! Backers will be deciding what expansions are unlocked at each stretch goal!

This is the marketing bullcrap at its finest. Mention the word "Family" on your product and suddenly you have people wanting it (rolls his eyes). That said, the game still looks good.

I do kind of like the idea of having to get people on to the planet while fending off bad guys / bad events.

And I am not sure we can blame the guy for trying to market his game :) assuming he isn't lying or exaggerating.

Hei there, thanks for the summary.

I am about to pull the trigger and got a few questions not in the faq:

-Just for sanity check: the whole lot costs 116.88$, right?

-I know that promotion codes often change...but what would be a good discount code to use?

-I am missing two promos: Young Legacy and Kvothe's Argent Adept. Are those jpegs available anywhere? Haven't found them in the Cauldron's website

-On the website it says something like "coming soon to Kickstarter". Does it mean someone plans to make a KS of this? Should I wait for it then?

Ooh, sneaky marketing trick. Last Starfleet wasn't on my radar until this thread. SotM with starships in space? Backed!

Hehe, I'm so clever.

But really, I am genuinely curious! I probably don't need both games, or do I?

Depends on what you think "need" means. Still, SOTM is an awesome game, and Last Starfleet is a complete unknown. So it I were you, and I was intent on only getting one or the other, then Sentinels is the easy choice.

Well, as I mentioned, the only advantage I could see for Last Starfleet is that 2 played seems a bit better as you only have to pilot 2 characters instead of 3.

I think it says a lot about Expatriette that her ideal satisfying game is "sit around doing nothing for 3+ turns because none of your cards are playable".

A few small fixes:

On the Incapacitated side of the character card:

The first power should read: One player may draw a card now.

The second power should read: One player may play a card now.

The latter part of the third power should read: "until the start of your next turn.

On Worker Ant, in the quote there should be a period after "Creepy crawly".

On Stolen Property, the quote is missing a period.

All fixed on the Dropbox. Thanks for the fixes.

The current wording is correct. He is meant to react before taking damage but is still dealt damage if the target still exists after using his power.
